Landal Marker Wadden: unwind in unspoilt island life

For the bucket list
In the middle of the Markermeer you can find a group of special nature islands for a few years now: Marker Wadden. Only on one of these newly created islands are visitors allowed and you will find four comfortable island cottages in unspoilt nature. A unique place to stay, enjoy nature and relax after a lovely walk on the beach.

A dynamic ecosystem in the making
Marker Wadden is an artificial archipelago in the Markermeer, an initiative of Natuurmonumenten, Rijkswaterstaat and several partners. Using sand, clay and silt from the lake, five nature islands have been constructed since 2016, with more to follow. The aim is to improve water quality and create a dynamic ecosystem. The islands give a huge boost to living conditions for aquatic plants, shellfish, birds and fish. From Bataviahaven in Lelystad, a ferry service will take you to Haveneiland in about three quarters of an hour.

Small-scale, natural paradise
On Haveneiland, one of the five wide islands of this new natural paradise, you can stay in the middle of nature. Here you will experience real island life, far away from the hectic everyday life. The four island cottages on this island are comfortably furnished and sustainable. The island has some 12 km of footpaths, with viewing huts here and there and a real watchtower. After a nice walk on the beach, a long afternoon of bird-watching or a refreshing dip in the Markermeer, you can relax here. The rental income from the island cottages goes 100% back to nature via Natuurmonumenten. In this way, Landal contributes to new nature in our country.
