Green Key certificates for Résidence de Banjaard, Hunzedal and Hunzepark

The number of Green Key certifications for our parks has increased further. At the beginning of December, Résidence de Banjaard obtained the Green Key Gold certificate and at the end of November, we were able to add Landal Hunzedal with a gold certification and Hunzepark with a silver certification to our list. We warmly congratulate all three parks on this achievement!

At Résidence De Banjaard in Zeeland, on the North Sea coast near the mouth of the Westerschelde, it took some time to meet the basic standards of the Green Key label. Measures were needed in the areas of waste separation, energy saving, lighting and water conservation.

A special feature of the park is its newest section: the Golfbreker. It has been designed with nature and nature inclusivity in mind: there is a wide variety of flora and fauna and energy-efficient accommodation has been built. Guests can read about this on information panels.

There is also a holiday dialysis centre at the park, in collaboration with the Admiraal De Ruyter Hospital (ADRZ) in Goes. This centre is open from the end of March to the end of October. From the outside, it looks like a large holiday home. Inside, serious care is provided. Every year, 700 kidney patients are able to go on holiday in this way.

All of this has led to a great end result and gold certification.

Challenges for Hunzedal and Hunzepark
The Hunzedal and Hunzepark parks are both located in Drenthe on the Hondsrug, in the middle of the vast National Geopark with its many forests, protected watercourse, historic dolmens, the typical Drenthe village of Borger and the Wildlandspark Emmen nearby.

These two parks also faced a major challenge with the basic standards of certification. Among other things, waste separation, LED lighting, aerators in the taps and even the float level of a number of toilets had to be addressed.

Hunzepark also earned extra points for local involvement. For example, the park's swimming pool is also used by the local population and swimming lessons are held there. The park also contributes to various local initiatives such as the Christmas market and the celebration of Saint Martin's Day.

For Hunzepark, the connection with nature is the key factor. The park is located next to a protected watercourse in the nature reserve that extends into the park. Guests can explore this nature reserve in a sporty way by renting a canoe.

ESG Business Partner Julian van Est: ‘This year, a number of parks will be able to obtain their Green Key certificate. I am very curious about the final score in 2025. We will keep you informed!’
