Cathedral Cave, Lake District

1 hour’s drive from Landal Whitbarrow
1 hour 18 minutes’ drive from Landal North Lakes

If you’ve watched Snow White and the Huntsman, then you’ve seen Cathedral Cave – and you’ll almost certainly be wanting to go there! Standing at an impressive 40 feet in height, and dramatically lit through windows in the rock, it’s the main chamber of a network of former slate-mining tunnels and caverns at Cathedral Quarry in Little Langdale, Cumbria. It’s an easy walk to reach the quarry from the village. Top tip: have your phone torch at the ready for exploring some of the tunnels!

Mablethorpe beach huts, Lincolnshire

30 minutes’ drive from Landal Kenwick Woods
50 minutes’ drive from Landal Laceby Manor and Resort

Grab your straw hat and head to the coast for some classic seaside-resort snaps! A row of brightly painted beach huts is always a money shot – whether they be the main focus, the backdrop to a selfie or model shot, or fill the frame to create compositions of repetitive pattern and colour contrast. If you’re staying at one of our Lincolnshire resorts, head to Mablethorpe (pictured) or Sutton-on-Sea to soak up the seaside vibes.

Ross Fountain, Edinburgh

1 hour 20 minutes’ drive from Landal Piperdam

Adorned with cherubs, nymphs and mermaids, the striking Ross Fountain is a masterpiece of Victorian cast-iron work. It’s situated in the most photographable of locations, amid the colour and beauty of Princes Street Gardens, with the majestic Edinburgh Castle towering above. Plus, its vibrant turquoise paintwork really gives it the wow factor, especially when set against a bright blue sky. Stop by during a day trip to this fine city, where you’re sure to find plenty more photo ops!

The Lost Gardens of Heligan, Cornwall

50 minutes’ drive from Landal Leycroft Valley
1 hour’s drive from Landal Clowance
1 hour’s drive from Landal Gwel an Mor
1 hour 20 minutes’ drive from Landal Bude Coastal Resort

These magical gardens are a photographer’s dream all year round, full of bold colours, tactile textures and unexpected features round every corner, such as a Burmese rope bridge that hangs 100 feet above ancient tree ferns. Meanwhile, mesmerising sculptures lay in wait along ancient woodland pathways, where carpets of bluebells paint the forest floor violet in springtime. In the winter there’s often a special Heligan Night Garden event, when hundreds of spectacular illuminated installations and lanterns take the gardens’ camera-friendliness to a new level!

Whitby Abbey, Yorkshire

1 hour 20 minutes' drive from Landal Woodland Lakes

Famously an inspiration and setting for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, these haunting 13th-century abbey ruins rising up from the headland above Whitby offer a multitude of photo opportunities: from up-close architectural compositions, to clifftop panoramas, to distance shots from the town below. Incredibly photogenic in all seasons and at all times of the day, get yourself to Yorkshire for some gothic goodness.
